Committees

The City of Vernonia has numerous citizen advisory committees which serve and advise City Council.

Committees are established and organized by Ordinance No. 880. Each committee has further specific duties and responsibilities established by resolution.

Joining a committee is a great way to be involved in your local government.

Airport Committee: 3 resident seats

Cemetery Committee: 3 resident seats

Parks Committee: 1 resident seat

Public Works Committee: 1 resident/non-resident seat


Airport Committee

Airport Committee makes recommendations related to rules, regulations, fees, maintenance and long-range planning for Vernonia Airport.

Airport Committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm at Vernonia City Hall.


Budget Committee

Budget Committee is tasked with reviewing and recommending the annual City budget to City Council in partnership with the City Administrator and Finance Director.

Budget Committee meets in April and May at a time and place to be determined.


Cemetery Committee

Cemetery Committee makes recommendations related to rules, regulations, fees, maintenance and long-range planning for Vernonia Memorial Cemetery.

Cemetery Committee meets on the second Thursday of the month at 7:00pm at Vernonia City Hall.


Library Board

Library Board makes recommendations related to library rules and policies, and the long-range plans for Vernonia Library.

Library Board meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00pm at Vernonia Library.


Parks Committee

Parks Committee makes recommendations related to operation, maintence, and long-range planning of Vernonia city parks.

Parks Committee meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm at Vernonia City Hall.


Public Works Committee

Public Works Committee makes recommendations related to maintenance of public works facilities, utility fees and long-range planning for streets, sewer, water and stormwater.

Public Works Committee meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
