Hiking and Biking

Vernonia is located at one end of the Banks-Vernonia State Trail and Tualatin Valley Scenic Bikeway.

The Vernonia Linear Trail connects the Banks-Vernonia State Trail, with easy trail access from several City Parks, including Anderson Park, Spencer Park and Vernonia Lake.

Vernonia Lake is home to bass, crappie and bluegill, and is stocked in the spring with rainbow trout. The Nehalem River and Rock Creek offer trout and steelhead fishing in season.

All Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fishing regulations apply to Vernonia Lake, as well as the Nehalem River and Rock Creek.

Trout Stocking Schedule

During the summer months, the City of Vernonia dams Rock Creek in Hawkins Park to create our public swimming hole, as well filling up a permenant kiddie pool. Plenty of grass and bench seating for families looking to cool down. No lifeguard on duty; please supervise your children.

Cabin in Vernonia
