What Is the Vernonia Prevention Coalition?

The Vernonia Prevention Coalition is a diverse group of adults and teens who have come together to help reduce alcohol, drug and tobacco use by children.  We work to educate both children andadults about this issue, and to provide structured activities for youth during and after school.

NEW: Check out this chart comparing risk factors, adolescent problem behaviors, protective factors with social development strategy.

What Does the Coalition Talk About?

In general, the coalition topics include:

  • Drug use prevention

  • Tobacco and alcohol advertising

  • Law enforcement

We also discuss current topics that are affecting our local community.

We love to hear new ideas from the members of our community.  We welcome comments and suggestions about what the Coalition should talk about in meetings.  In the near future, we will be posting a Guestbook page for community use.  In the meantime, please bring your suggestions to our meetings.

When and Where does the Coalition Meet?

When: First Wednesday of the month at 9am

Where: Front Classroom of the Vernonia Learning Center

We welcome any members of the community to join us.  We are making arrangements for evening meetings for those who cannot attend during morning hours.  We will post updates here as soon as we have more information.

For more information about meetings and classes, please visit our Calendar Page
