| City of Vernonia Proposes to Regulate Adult Businesses | September 4, 2007 |
| No adult businesses current
exist in Vernonia, but the planning commission is working hard to
address the issues before a business does come to town. On September 20,
2007 the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing for the
community to comment on the proposed ordinance to regulate adult
businesses. The Commission will be accepting comment about a proposed ordinance that prescribes the location for any adult business. Specifically, any of these businesses would be located no less than 750 feet from any area zoned residential, general residential or low density residential; and 1000 feet from any other adult business; and 1000 feet from a church, playground, school, public building or recreational area. Maps and drawings displaying the proposed areas for adult businesses will be available. Citizen comments and suggestions are welcome and will help to make a better ordinance. Those unable to attend but would like to submit written comments, please contact Kate Conley at 503-429-5291. If you are unable to attend and would like to view the information, please feel free to contact City Hall. For additional information or a sample copy, Contact:
