Welcome to Vernonia!! For a small rural community, Vernonia is big on parks. Vernonia’s park system includes 7 city parks and 1 state park, offering everything from scenic and natural beauty to recreational opportunities for both residents and visitors. Whether you’re looking for overnight camping accommodations with full hookup or a place to hike, bike or have a family gathering for the day, Vernonia’s parks have what you’re looking for. Airport Park - Next to Vernonia Municipal Airport Airport Park is located 4 miles southwest of Vernonia off Timber Road, next to Vernonia Municipal Airport. The park is a primitive campground tucked in among old growth fir, maple and alder trees alongside the Nehalem River. |

Anderson Park - South end of Adams and Jefferson Avenues Located south of downtown Vernonia at the south end of Adams and Jefferson Avenues. It is bordered by the confluences of Rock Creek and the Nehalem River. |

Banks-Vernonia Trail - Located in Anderson Park Take a quiet walk along this old, abandoned, 21-mile railroad path. Listen to the birds, the whispering wind, birds and bubbling streams. There are many entrances to this trail. Enter the trail to walk, bicycle, ride your horse or push a baby buggy. |

Hawkins Park - Located at at the end of Park Drive in downtown Vernonia In early summer a small dam across Rock Creek creates “Dewey Pool” swimming area. There is also a concrete kiddy pool adjacent to the creek. |

Ora Bolmeier Park - Located on Louisiana Avenue north of Bridge Street Ora Bolmeier Park, located on Louisiana Avenue north of Bridge Street, overlooks downtown Vernonia. The park is nestled among large fir trees. |

Shay Park - Located downtown on the corner of Bridge Street and Adams Avenue Shay Park is the final resting place of Shay locomotive #102 which was once owned and operated by the Oregon-American Lumber Company. A trail leading down to a viewing platform next to the creek offers visitors an up close view of salmon on their way through to spawning grounds in the fall. |

Spencer Park - Located at the north end of Missouri Avenue Spencer Park is located at the north end of Missouri Avenue east of downtown and off Bridge Street. Spencer Park is a multi-sports park with fields for softball, baseball, soccer or football. |

Vernonia Lake - Located east of downtown, just off of Highway 47 Vernonia Lake was once the mill pond of the Oregon-American Lumber Company. The lake is home to Bass, Crappie, Perch and Bluegill, and is stocked each year with Rainbow Trout. |
