MAYOR: Sally Harrison EMAIL: Sallyharrison@verizon.net TERM EXPIRES: 12/20/2010 BIO: Sally is a native Vernonian who has lived in town for all but 3 or 4 years. She enjoys writing, drawing, theater (performing and viewing), playing bridge and cross stitching. Sally has been married for 44 years to her husband Del. She retired from a 21 year job as Jail Food Service Administrator & Cook working for Clatsop County Corrections in Astoria. Sally is involved in Hands on Art, Pioneer Museum, Columbia County Cultural Trust, Salmon Festival, Vernonia Community Church and Vernonia Pride. |

COUNCILOR: Catherine Helmer EMAIL: catherine.helmer@yahoo.com TERM EXPIRES: 12/20/2010 - (Catherine was appointed on July 19, 2010, filling the position that Brett Costley had previously held) BIO: Catherine was born in Santa Rosa, California and moved to Oregon in 1970. She and her husband Scott bought their first home when they moved to Vernonia in 2006. Catherine had never been to this quaint little town, but Scott had as he spent many a summer here visiting his grandmother, Faye Davis, and Grandfather, Calvin Davis. Shortly after moving here, they discovered that one of Vernonia’s founders, R.W. McNutt, is Scott’s Great-Great-Great-Great-Grandfather. Catherine has a 19-year-old daughter, Scott has a 17-year-old son, and together they have 3 dogs and freshwater fish. Catherine has served on the Parks Committee as secretary since September 2009. She and her husband are members of Vernonia Pride, have volunteered for Vernonia Cares Food Bank and are looking forward to their next volunteering opportunity. She and her husband love to volunteer, in fact Catherine wrote an article that appeared in the June 8, 2010 issue of Vernonia’s Voice which speaks to the passion she feels about volunteering and the importance of it. Catherine has worked for the Beaverton School District
for the past 12 years. In her spare time, she enjoys
gardening, camping (RV-style), cake decorating, candy making
and creating beaded jewelry. |

COUNCILOR: Cindy Ball EMAIL: vernonian@gmail.com TERM EXPIRES: 12/20/2010 BIO: Cindy was born in the San Fernando Valley, California and moved to Southern Minnesota with her family, then back to California where she spent most of her childhood. She said she never got over her first “snowless Christmas.” She moved to Vernonia in 1997, buying property just 2 weeks before the flood of ’97. She moved here from Hillsboro, having come north from Klamath Falls. She works as an Administrative Assistant at Intel. She is a board member of the Upper Nehalem Watershed Council, a charter member of the Vernonia CERT Team, on the Cemetery Committee and the newly emerging Emergency Committee. She was Mayor of Vernonia for four years. She is married and has 2 daughters four cats and a fish tank! |

COUNCILOR: Kevin Hudson EMAIL: mailto:khud.cov@gmail.com TERM EXPIRES: 12/20/2012 BIO: Kevin was born in Minot, North Dakota and lived there for 25 years. He spent much of his childhood on the farm and loved operating farm equipment and taking care of animals. He moved to Arizona in 1984 which is where he met his wife Helen in 1994. Kevin and Helen relocated to Oregon in 2000. The Hudson’s have resided in Vernonia since March of 2001. |

COUNCILOR: Randy Parrow EMAIL: cityhall@vernonia-or.gov TERM EXPIRES: 12/20/2012 BIO: Randy was born in The Dalles, OR, and lived on a farm in Dufur, OR, until the family moved to Vernonia in 1968. He graduated from Vernonia High School in 1976. His father, Art, was VHS Principle, then Vernonia School District Superintendent, and Mayor of Vernonia. His mother, Enid, was a founding member of the civic group, “Vernonia Pride” and involved in community committees. Randy is married to Sharon and they have 4 children and 10 grandchildren. They moved back to Vernonia in 1992. They are partners in Vernonia Sentry and Vernonia Scrub tub, and Randy has been involved in the Booster Club, the Festival Committee, Chamber of commerce and various other committees. |
